from From Dawn to Dusk:

(Bagoas moves a few steps along the porch and quietly opens wide the doors leading from the reading room to the porch. Voices drift out from the room inside.)

Lysis: So tell me more about how this ‘alternative universe’ is supposed to work?

inner_v0ice: Well, I just had this idea....

Inner Voice: (grins shyly up at Lysis) ...I wasn't actually able to finish anything for it this year, but if you're really interested...

(Lysis nods and smiles encouragingly)

Inner Voice: (blushes and squeaks, flaps hands in wait-right-here! gesture and runs off to turn the house upside down in search of pen and paper)

quite some time later...

Inner Voice: (dashes back, screeches to a halt in front of Lysis) Well, uh, it's still Friday in Hawaii!

(Lysis looks at her in puzzlement)

Inner Voice: ...Sorry, never mind. In any case, here you go! (flourishes several small scraps of paper)

First, this is for you and Alexias.

It's the two of you as starship fighter pilots! He's your trusted wingman, of course. As he said, after the first day I always rode with Lysis, and fought at his side, and no one, I believe, ever questioned my place.

Second...(looks around furtively) Well, this is supposed to be Bagoas. (winces)

I don't think it looks much like him but I didn't have time to go look for him among all these guests so I could get a better look and well it's supposed to be him as an alien catboy because I somehow have the feeling that if The Persian Boy were an anime space opera he would be cast as an alien catboy... (contemplates what she just said, winces again, moves hurriedly on to the next piece of paper)

This one is for The King Must Die.

It's a high school AU in which the Cranes are a volleyball team, with Theseus as the team captain, of course.

This one is for The Mask of Apollo.

It's another high school AU. Nikeratos and Thettalos are students, and of course they're starring in the annual play. In this picture they're reviewing their lines together.

And lastly, another one for you and Alexias!

Here you're in Japan but you're still very much like yourselves--you're a knight (well, the Japanese call them samurai), and Alexias is your friend. Did you know that Japanese knights had friendships just like you? Oh, and here you're chasing each other all over town and having no luck finding each other--Alexias tells the story, you know: he and I spent half the morning wandering about in different places; and no one knew enough yet to say, "Lysis was here just now, looking for you, and went that way."

Alexias: (has been watching for some time, finally bursts out) --but whatever has happened to Lysis' hair?

Inner Voice: Oh! Well...I had to make it that way, you know; that's the way the samurai wore their hair. I suppose you don't find it as flattering as his real hair-do, though...
(notices that several other characters have wandered over and are now inspecting the scraps of paper. Eeep!s and contemplates sneaking away before they've decided what to think of all this)
